Brain exercise - Memory Matrix

This new exercise will work your memory for spatial layouts and object pattern recognition. We’re still putting the final touches on it, so please send us your feedback so we can keep making it better.

I played a game and enjoyed it very much. I was interested as I know myself to have a very poor sense of direction. I tended to 6 or 7 tiles level and just once (I think) at 8.

It’s a lovely, simple idea. Well done.

Seems really good at increasing the number of things remembered.

I enjoyed the game. Success at seven tiles. This game has very similar spatial properties to monster garden and the chimp game. Closer to monster garden in when you identify all the monsters on the grid and closer to the chimp game all clues are flashed on the screen at the same time.

A easier game than monster garden because it focuses on a single ‘task’

Managed 10 tiles, but when the grid gets large it’s hard to pick the exact position when a tile is alone by itself, even though you can recall the overall pattern.

Pehaps the growth of grid should be slower? In the beginning the tiles occupies more than 30% of the grid. At level 11 it’s probably something like 20%

Managed 10 tiles. But one thing I would like to see is the option to have a background. When I try to remember the location in this game I want something to tie the blocks to. A simple drawing of something would be great, so I can lock the the blocks to it.

Managed 12 tiles on average and made it to level 14 three times. I too wonder what the effect of increasing the tiles/white space ratio would have. Easier? Harder? At 50% I believe it would be identical to matrix patterns. From the study I’m looking at (”Executive processes in visual and spatial working memory tasks”) the mean (for psychology students/test subjects) should be around 8.6 with a 1.8 standard deviation.

I vaguely recall a psychology test similar to this (pattern span?) with 1/2 shaded in and 1/2 white

I love how these games always start off so easy — they make you feel cocky then, bam, you hit a brick wall.

Ended up being much more challenging than I expected. But of course that’s what makes Lumosity games fun :)

I finally perfected this game. The highest score possible is 1875 if anyone was wondering.

17 is not enough. The game is ending too early. I think it will not be a big problem to make more levels. I really wait to meet that challenge.

I agree with Ffighter. Is it possible to extend it to more levels? Also, it would be nice if you didn’t need to start at the beginning everytime.

    Cheers
