The example of Dual works, but the actually game didn’t work. I waited for the “block” but it didn’t show. Then the game told me I was wrong because the block was in the same position and I should have type “s”??????

HELP.

Judy,

It sounds like you’re in the tutorial part of the game. If this is the “1-back” part of the tutorial (where it starts with single n-back, or just the squares, without adding sound) you’ll need to look for the square, and then, if the next square shows up in the exact same position, hit the “s” key.

This tutorial will eventually cover “2-back,” where you’ll need to hit the “s” key when the location of the square matches the one that came 2 before it, and dual n-back, where you’ll need to match both the squares (using the “s” key again) and sounds (using the “l” key).

Don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any more questions!

The squares in the game, but not in the tutorial (I think?). The letters only occur occasionally as opposed to being a dual task….in other words, sometimes the sounds are present when the square appears and sometimes there is no sound and no opportunity to create a match.

example (auditory)

“no sound” “p” “g” “no sound” “no sound” “t” “t”

Judy,

Thanks for following up. Let’s make sure I’m on the same page as you — the game works correctly on your main computer, but not on your laptop?

Have you tried running through the troubleshooting steps outlined above on your laptop? If you have, could you provide more information about the operating system and browser you’re running Lumosity from on your laptop?

Also, have you tried playing other Lumosity games besides dual n-back from your notebook computer? Are they working correctly?

Thanks again for sticking with it,
Ben

Yes, the dual program works on my main computer but not on my laptop. The laptop is Vista and Explorer for my internet. And, yes, the other Lumosity games work on my laptop.

My MAIN computer is not Vista.

Judy,

Is your laptop computer a bit slower (or older?) than your desktop?

One thing you might try with your laptop is to close all the browser windows and other programs, clear your file cache (instructions for doing this can be found in my first post on the Dual N-Back Troubleshooting page of the forum), and restart the computer.

Best regards,
Ben
