How Do I Use My Full Access to Lumosity?

Hi there! If you’ve recently upgraded your free membership to a subscription, then welcome to the full access side of Lumosity! We hope you’ll enjoy the wealth of features that your new subscriber status invokes—we know there’s a lot to process here. To make the transition smoother, below is a list of subscriber-only tools that you can now enjoy.

As a full-access subscriber, you have unlimited access to all our games, personalized training, and tools.

Daily Personalized Training

Lumosity’s personalized training program has been designed by cutting-edge neuroscience research. Games and game levels adapt to match your level of ability while taking into account your training preferences. (Do you want to improve Memory the most? Speed?)

Daily training sessions consist of 3-5 relevant games; each session requires about half an hour to complete. You can also change your preferences to reflect what brain areas you want the improve the most.

Note: we recommend daily training sessions because our science suggests that one session per day is the most effective way to train. You can’t go back and redo sessions once your daily training session is done, but you can always play additional Games under the Games tab.

Games Tab

Our subscribers get unlimited access to all 35+ cognitive training games. Outside of training sessions, you can play as many games as often as you like! Remember, games played outside of training sessions still contribute to your BPI, so they’re tracked as carefully as those done within a training session.

Brain Profile Tab

Brain Profile
Subscribers love seeing their Brain Profiles unlocked! We compile scores from games you’ve played in each of the 5 cognitive areas and calculate a Brain Performance Index (BPI) for each. (Your BPI is a useful measure of how well you’re doing based on game performance—check out a full explanation here.) You can see how your BPI compares to other Lumosity members in the same age group. Are you better than 30% of users in your age group yet? How about 50%? Keep coming back to your Brain Profile as you train and improve over time.

History
Speaking of improvements over time, take a look at your unlocked History section. One of the most powerful subscriber-only tools lives here: you can view your long-term performance and improvement in Lumosity. The History section is a great way to track your impressive cognitive gains over time.

Training Reminders

Training Reminders are among our most popular subscriber-only tools. If you sign up for Training Reminders, you’ll receive emails from Lumosity that remind you to complete your daily training sessions.

Visit the Training Reminders page to set or change your Training Reminder preferences. You can choose which days of the week and what time of day you receive emails. You can always go back and change your Training Reminder preferences at any time.

Bonus: Brain Trainer

Lumos Labs is also the maker of a top-rated iPhone app, Brain Trainer. When you subscribe to Lumosity, you also get free full access to Brain Trainer! Just use your Lumosity.com username and password to log in to Brain Trainer once you download the app from the iTunes store. Download it here.

So…How Should I Start Training?

That’s a good question! If all these features sound overwhelming, don’t worry. You don’t have to try all of them at once. A good way to start using Lumosity is simply by doing daily training sessions and beginning a regular training regimen. Like physical exercise, brain exercise is something that returns the greatest rewards if you stick to a schedule. We recommend training for 15-20 minutes every 1 to 2 days—our data shows that users following this kind of schedule actually experience greater cognitive gains for the same amount of time spent training! Read a full blog post about it here.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect?

Did you know that 97% of our users experience sharp improvements in BPI after just 10 hours of Lumosity training? A little effort really goes a long way. For a more in-depth look at what kind of training gains our users have experienced, check out a couple of our past analyses:

Thanks again for becoming a Lumosity subscriber! We hope you try out each and every one of these newly unlocked features. By using all of Lumosity’s tools, you can create a truly comprehensive brain health program.

About Pam Zhang

Pam Zhang studied Creative Nonfiction Writing and Cognitive Science at Brown University (and a smattering of Egyptology too). All this has left her with an itch for unearthing all the weird and wonderful connections between our brains, our bodies, and our ideas of self. Now writing for Lumos Labs, she'd like to know what facets of neuroscience you want to read about!
