New Brain Game – Top Chimp!

Top Chimp

We’re on a roll! Following the debut of Name Tag last month, we are now ready to release Top Chimp, a brain game that sharpens visual attention and trains working memory. We think it’s more fun than a barrel of…well, monkeys, but would love to have your feedback before the game becomes part of the regular set of brain exercises. Please find the game here http://games.lumosity.com/top_chimp.html and send any suggestions to games@lumosity.com.

FYI, the green “Play here” button goes to a non-page.

This could be quite addictive! Initial thoughts:
For the first few rounds, I had no idea why I was playing against the chimp. That is, I did not understand how I was supposed to be competing against him, as we were getting the series of 4 guesses correct each time.

Then when I was allowed to increase or decrease my chip bets, I wasn’t sure what that meant. Was I still going to get 4 numbers, but getting them correct equaled 5 points? Did speed factor in to winning? I increased it to 5, and figured it out.

My competitor didn’t raise his wager to 5 until several rounds later. That means that I was able to build a small lead that he was never going to be able to catch up to. 5 was enough numbers for me to recall without problems. Thus I did not see the monkey as a threat — really I was playing against my own memory.

My guess is that in the later rounds, the monkeys get bolder in their wagering, and my pressure increases, as they don’t make mistakes.

Hope this helps! Keep it up!

These monkeys gave my brain a challenging work out. It feels great!!! Just like having a physical work out. My brain feels
like there are tiny little pin balls still knocking around up there & I would relate it to my heart beating very hard after a good cardio workout. Time to relax a day or so & do it again……….WOW I love it!!!

    Excellent and Addictive -
I was a fan of your chimp game http://games.lumosity.com/chimp.html and this is more interesting. You can add a graph to show the progress as one climbs up the stages. That will make it more stimulating.
