FAQ

Where can I register?

https://www.usamemorychampionship.com/registration/

Who can compete?

Any legal US resident aged 13+ I saw somewhere that it’s 10+... That doesn’t apply to this year’s virtual event.

What are the events?

There will be 4 total challenges or events: 2 familiar Lumosity games, and 2 USA Memory Championship favorites known as “Words to Remember” and “Tea Party.” You can find out more about these events at https://www.usamemorychampionship.com/events/

If you feel unprepared for any particular round of the competition, you can opt out, or give it a try! Whatever you want. That said, the earlier events will determine who qualifies for later events, so once you opt-out, you’re done participating for the day.

Do I have to participate in the non-Lumosity games?

No. If you feel unprepared for any particular round of the competition, you can opt out, or give it a try! Whatever you want. That said, the earlier events will determine who qualifies for later events, so once you opt-out, you’re done participating for the day.

Can I just watch?

Yes! Absolutely. We’ll be sending out more information in November about how to watch the event live.

What do I get if I win?

Pride. Maybe an interview. This event is all about having fun and showcasing the full potential of human memory!

What can I expect on competition day?

There will be an information session on 11/07 with ALL the details you will need. But to summarize:

  1. All competitors will join a Zoom link on 11/14 at 1pm EST.
  2. Competitors will start by completing a couple of challenges involving Lumosity games.
  3. While that’s taking place, spectators will have the chance to hear from a selection of brilliant speakers talking about the sport and science of mnemonics, memory, and cognition.
  4. Winners from the Lumosity challenges will be announced, and then we will move into the final rounds consisting of classic USA Memory Championship Events.
  5. A winner will be declared as the final event concludes.
