Why 5 Games Per Workout?

The science behind short, varied sessions

Most Lumosity workouts are built around five games per session, designed to be completed in about 5–15 minutes. This structure reflects research from learning science: short sessions make it easier to train consistently, learning improves when practice is spaced over time, and performance improves most when tasks stay near your current ability level.

Each workout exercises multiple cognitive areas in a single session, revisits key skills across days to support learning, and introduces novel challenges while reinforcing familiar ones. The balance (breadth across skills, depth within skills) is intentional. It helps ensure training stays engaging, challenging, and personalized as you progress.
